This Week’s Reflection:
The Simple Math of Writing Better
Today is the day I want to talk about a habit that transformed my own business: writing more makes you a better writer 🤷🏼♀️
It doesn’t have to be great, or even interesting at first. The magic happens simply by showing up on the page (screen) regularly. When I started my own consistent writing habit, I was focused on a few key things:
- Building technical skill - Like any muscle, our writing abilities atrophy when unused. Even the mechanics of typing or organizing thoughts into coherent sentences improve with consistent practice. I got faster at typing, and better at writing now, editing later.
- Creating a record of ideas - So much of what we consume and think is lost. Regular writing creates a library of thoughts you can revisit, expand upon, and connect in unexpected ways. One of my favorite ways to get quick notes down is with voice memos in Notion.
- Developing your authentic voice - In the era of AI, there’s something powerful about documenting your unique perspective and seeing how it evolves over time. While I use AI a ton, I draw a hard line where and how I use it. It’s too easy to lose your own voice when you rely on these tools to think for you.
So what do you need to do more of this week? Write. Even when it feels awkward. Even when you think no one cares. Even when you’re convinced it’s not good enough. The act itself is what matters. Write about what happened today, or make a list of things you have to do, journal your dreams or a silly idea that popped into your head. The writing doesn’t have to be good, the habit will carry the weight of improvement.
As you write more, you’ll be able to categorize and organize the notes that can actually be used in content. Use these entries as rough drafts or prompts that can later be refined. The important thing is establishing that space for your thoughts alone, a log that captures your voice.

Resource of the Week:
Obsidian
This week’s recommended tool is Obsidian (link). While I’ve tried countless note-taking and writing apps, Obsidian stands out for its ability to create connections between your ideas, building a beautiful web of thoughts over time. It’s free for personal use, works offline, and can grow with you without locking you into a proprietary format.
The feature I’m loving most: the graph view that visually maps connections between your notes, helping you discover patterns in your thinking you never realized existed. I love Notion for meeting notes, projects and content planning - but all my daily writing happens in Obsidian. Check it out if you haven’t yet.
Every word you write brings you one step closer to finding your unique voice. Have a beautiful week!
